Here to help YOU reach your full potentiaL.
As a GP, Lifestyle Medicine Physician as well as health coach and yoga teacher …
I truly care about empowering YOU in order to take control of your own health journey!
I will be right by your side when you are ready to optimise your physical and mental health through sustainable lifestyle changes.
As a physician I am very passionate about the facilitation of self-management and the de-medicalisation of chronic conditions such as back pain and diabetes having felt throughout my medical career that the way forward must be to focus on the source instead of trying to treating the symptoms of a disease.
As a practising GP I currently enjoy combining regular work in the acute / out-of-hours setting with sessional work at GP surgeries in Cornwall.
My passion for ‘Lifestyle Medicine’ led to me completing the Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine in 2018 which has truly changed my life.
I am still absolutely amazed that even the essential pillars of ‘Lifestyle Medicine’ were not taught during all those years at medical school! At least some basic knowledge about the importance of sleep and our gut microbiome would have been rather useful as a student…
In order to address this lack of knowledge I founded the Cornwall British Society of Lifestyle Medicine in 2019.
I very much enjoy my voluntary role as the Regional Director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine for Cornwall which involves organising empowering educational events for both health care profession and the public around the 5 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine such as Sleep, Nutrition, Movement, ‘Choosing well’ (avoidance of toxic substances), Social Connectedness and Stress Management allowing individuals to feel in control of their own Health and Well-being.
A little more about myself and ‘An Mor’ - Cornish for ‘The Sea’
I was lucky to be raised by the seaside of several different European countries when I was growing up which might be why the sea has always played such an important role in my life and caused me to embark on countless ‘wave-hunting’ - adventures.
As soon as I completed my medical degree in Germany in 2011 my passion for surfing took me back to the surfable coast of the UK. For several years I worked between Pembrokeshire, Devon and Cornwall before completing my GP training in Cornwall.
Having always been fascinated with travel and foreign countries my sabbatical in 2017 took me to fascinating India as well as to Nepal where I very much enjoyed volunteering for the brilliant NGO ‘PHASE Worldwide Nepal’. https://phaseworldwide.org/
The opportunity to experience the simple, challenging life of the amazingly resilient Nepalese people had a profound impact on me.
My Cornish partner works in the surf-industry another reason why Cornwall seems to be the perfect place to settle alongside the amazing out-doors and the great local community.
